Quick Summary

  • Targeted survey of the works area
  • Intrusive where materials will be disturbed
  • Report to guide safe works & removal
  • Protects trades, occupants & your timeline

Why it matters

A refurbishment asbestos survey (sometimes called a renovation survey) identifies asbestos in the specific areas that will be affected by upcoming works. Where materials will be disturbed, the survey goes intrusive — because that’s exactly where the risk is.

It protects your trades and occupants, and it stops the classic renovation disaster: a builder cuts into an old sheet mid-project and the whole job halts for emergency management.

When you need it

Book a refurbishment survey before any renovation, fit-out, re-clad, bathroom or kitchen strip-out, or structural change to a building that may contain asbestos. If pre-1990 materials are involved and they’ll be disturbed, survey first.

04

Manage & Remove

We arrange licensed removal of anything in the way, so your trades can proceed safely.

FAQ

Common questions

How is this different from a demolition survey?
A demolition survey covers the whole structure being knocked down. A refurbishment survey is targeted at the specific areas your renovation will disturb.
Do I really need one for a small reno?
If your works will disturb materials that could contain asbestos, yes — it’s far cheaper than stopping a job to deal with an uncontrolled disturbance.
Can you test suspicious materials on the spot?
We take samples during the survey and have them lab tested for certainty.
What if asbestos is found?
We’ll advise on safe options — usually licensed removal of the affected material before works continue.
